Founder and Director Donna Bouzaid brings a deep understanding of the impact of high-quality child safe environments and how this can be achieved with the right advice, support and training.
For the past 25 years Donna has enjoyed a broad and extensive career in the out of school care and recreation sector. She has led the development and facilitation of both regional and national advice, support and training, led Ministry of Social Development audits with a focus on child protection and child health & safety, represented the out of school care and recreation sector on Government advisory groups and led Children’s Services for YMCA New Zealand.
Donna understands there can be many barriers to becoming child safe. She also knows that with the right help and support, organisations and communities can overcome these barriers and establish high quality child safe environments where children can be safe, happy and protected.

I formed Safe for Children to make change. New Zealand should be the best place in the world to be a child but sadly a grim report by UNICEF highlighted that out of 41 developed countries, New Zealand ranks 35th for its outcomes.
